What is BBBEE?
Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment
BBBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) is a South African government policy framework designed to redress the inequalities of the past by promoting the meaningful participation of black South Africans in the economy. The programme measures companies across several pillars, including ownership, management control, skills development, enterprise & supplier development and socio-economic development.
BBBEE certification is verified by accredited agencies and assigns a scorecard level to each company, ranging from Level 1 (highest) to Level 8, as well as non-compliant status. The higher the level, the greater the recognition and procurement benefits for clients who choose to do business with that company.
